QO Amsterdam Ambassador Favorites

Out and about in Amsterdam – May

Our Amsterdam Ambassadors like to share their love and knowledge of the city with you. Offering you insights in things to do, places to visit and people to meet.

We take great pride in curating a list of events each month. When cultivating our list of “Amsterdam Favourites for the Month” we are always on the lookout for that off the beaten track, which in turn opens up a different and inspirational side of Amsterdam to you.

Therefore we connect you to the city and help shape your experience.

Bevrijdingsdans festival

May 5th is our national Liberation Day (Bevrijdingsdag), the day in 1945 that the Netherlands were liberated from the German occupation. Nowadays it’s also a day to celebrate our values of freedom, democracy and human rights. The day itself is full of jubilant street parties and café gatherings. However what better way to celebrate this, than with dance. Bevrijdingsdans Festival on Museumplein will be all about ‘dancing to celebrate liberty’: danceacts, danceworkshops and more dancing.

Michaelangelo – A different view

Kill two birds with one stone! Step inside the Beurs van Berlage which once housed the oldest Stock Exchange in the world and look for the Sistine Chapel. How is this even possible one would think? “A Different View” is an exhibition which presents a different perspective for Michelangelo’s work. The exhibition is a new experience having photo-mechanically reproduced copies of his most famous works. One of his most famous frescoes is even placed on the ground so you can get an up close and personal view. All the while walking through the epitome of trade, where once the Exchange housed, which issued the first stocks and bonds.
