We take great pride in curating a list of events each month. When cultivating our list of “Amsterdam Favorites for the Month” we are always on the lookout for that off the beaten track, which in turn opens up a different and inspirational side of Amsterdam to you.

Therefore we connect you to the city and help shape your experience.

The days are getting longer and New Year’s resolutions have been made. We’ve something for everyone: from getting into that Spring feeling to learning some Dutch history to celebrating the New Year twice.

Here it goes!

Illuminated Garden

Take a stroll through the beautiful illuminated botanic garden and atmospheric greenhouses. It will definitely feel like Christmas is still around and your festive spirit will continue. Enjoy the campfire and glühwein and experience the beauty of nature.

A former Dutch colony

The Great Suriname exhibition is in honour of the 45th anniversary of Suriname’s independence in 2020. The exhibition sheds light upon the entire cultural history of Suriname. It will also show Dutch history from another vantage point. Especially the trade history of Amsterdam is intertwined with the former colony.

Multicultural Amsterdam has a long history!

Postpone Dry January

Explore the world of whisky in the Posthoorn Church during the 12th edition of L&B Whisky Weekend.

This two-day event is a must for anyone who has even a passing interest in the drink because some of the world’s top whisky distilleries will be showcasing their spirits.

Whisky tasting, tours, and Scottish music. What else do you need?

Spring is early

A world of colours in front of the Royal Palace on the Dam Square to celebrate National Tulip Day, the kick off for the tulip season. At 1 pm the tulip picking garden will be open to pick your own bunch of spring happiness.

It is not only a beautiful scenery, every visitor can pick their own tulip bouquet up to 20 tulip and it’s totally free. A must see at the Dam square.

Something spontaneous

Immerse yourself in unscripted theatre ranging from tear-jerking drama to hilarious comedy. Alongside the main performances, there is much more to experience, such as daily late-night shows, an open stage and a variety workshops. In short, a week full of world-class improvised theatre in Amsterdam.

The Impro is the perfect event to mix with the locals and get the feel for the multicultural nature of Amsterdam mixed with some laughs.

Year of the Rat

Join the colourful Chinese New Year’s celebrations. This is an important happening for the Chinese community here in Amsterdam, and an occasion to celebrate the integration of two different cultures in the same city.

A year of new beginnings, new opportunities, love and money will be celebrated. It will be the commencement of the year of the Rat. The Rat is the first out of the 12 Chinese Zodiac signs and is a symbol of wealth and good fortune.

So you can expect fireworks, lanterns, dragon dances and lots of food.
